Women comprise 50 percent of the American work force. Yet,
very few are employed in higher positions in the tech fields. While there is a
big push to get young women into coding and other tech-related jobs, more
females are needed to round out the workforce and take on higher level jobs. US Media Studios examines the status of women in tech fields.
Women of any age working in high-tech businesses can get the
“leading edge” in their respective careers by creating their own personal group
of mentors. Women supporting women in business in any field is conducive to
success. Mentors are great individuals to bounce ideas off of, lean on when
things get rough, and reap good advice about how to move up in position in
their careers. Women are often raised to not speak up in large gatherings, not
to ask too many questions, and generally take what’s given to them politely.
Those days are gone.
Today’s career-minded women are speaking up in meetings,
asking the pertinent questions, raising concerns, supporting team efforts, and
getting more recognition. Women in
high-tech jobs are leading the way for the next generation of female colleagues
and workers. US Media Studios notes that as more young women are coming into the
workforce, businesses should give them every opportunity to take on the challenging
positions, supervise others, and offer resources for their future growth with
the company or in their career. Women of all ages are poised to step up, lean
in and take the reins. And they already have.
