It is an American dream to want to start your own business. But
when to start it is not often asked or answered. USM Studios relays some
questions and answers to consider before becoming your own boss.
Despite advice offered online, the best time to start your
own business is when you know what kind of business you want to own and
operate.
- Ask yourself if you want to buy an existing business, buy a franchise or start a brand new one from scratch. Most people already know the answer to that question.
- Will the physical location for it be already in existence? Is there a lease to take over? The expenses for taking over a lease or deed in place can be high. Factor in insurance and utilities also.
- Will the start-up company you want to open be based from home? This is a good option for starting a business and running it part-time until it becomes ready to go full-time.
- How much money does one need to save before starting a company? This all depends on when, where and how the business owner decides to start their new venture. The best rule of thumb is to have at least a few months of living expenses saved to tide you over.
There is no real “best time” to start your own business. But
most professionals would agree that running a successful company is more than
just keeping the doors --- physical or virtual – open. It takes strategic
planning
